Pound Ridge Golf Club Ascends Golf Magazine's 'Best Public Courses' List

(POUND RIDGE, N.Y.) - Pound Ridge Golf Club - the Pete Dye-design an hour north of Manhattan - moves up to No. 6 in New York in GOLF Magazine's 2012 rankings of the "Best Public Courses."

The rating - the course's second top ten among major golf publications - places Pound Ridge in the upper echelon of the Empire State's almost 600 public golf facilities. It recognizes Pound Ridge as the No. 2 New York City-area course behind only vaunted Bethpage Black, host venue for the 2009 U.S. Open. GOLF Magazine's ratings panel included editorial staff and well-traveled golf industry sources.

"We are honored to be recognized by GOLF Magazine, which places a premium on its golf travel and architecture reporting," says Ken Wang, Pound Ridge's owner. "This speaks to the course's maturation, and the premier service and conditioning golfers can expect when playing here."

Since opening in 2008, Pound Ridge has garnered a list of world-class accolades from Golf Digest, Golfweek, AskMen.com, Rolex and LINKS Magazine.

Its strategic blend of challenging driving holes and intriguing risk/reward approach shots have earned Pound Ridge a spot alongside TPC Sawgrass, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, Whistling Straits and Harbour Town in Dye's pantheon of legendary courses.
