Jack Nicklaus’ First Major Championship Title Portrayed in 'Jack’s Majors' Fine Art Collection

1962 U.S. Open Win Part of Artistic Tribute to Nicklaus’ Unprecedented 18 Major Titles

(Bonita Springs, FL) — Jack Nicklaus won the first of his record-setting 18 major championship titles at the 1962 U.S. Open that was contested at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh.  Nine years later at Merion Golf Club, site of next week’s national championship, the golf legend almost added yet another U.S. Open to his portfolio.  Nicklaus lost his bid in a playoff to Lee Trevino.

World-renowned golf artist Walt Spitzmiller’s extraordinary collection of paintings simply entitled Jack’s Majors captures Nicklaus’ memorable maiden U.S. Open win over rival Arnold Palmer at Oakmont and chronicles the ensuing 17 major victories (which included three more U.S. Opens) in an eloquent and unprecedented artistic tribute.  Spitzmiller spent eight years painting what he believes is golf’s greatest achievement of the modern era:  Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major championship titles.  Each painting brings to life a special moment from the “Golden Bear’s” unmatched legacy.

In addition to the art collection, Jack’s Majors is available in an exquisite and strictly limited edition Portfolio book. Only 100 museum-quality volumes numbered and signed by Jack Nicklaus and the artist will be made available on a custom order basis. The oversize hand bound and luxuriously crafted Portfolio includes 18 giclee art prints (18” x 24”), along with accompanying text that recounts the highlights of each tournament victory by best-selling golf author, Don Wade.

“I am a great admirer of Jack Nicklaus and I’m especially grateful that Jack is so pleased with the art and that he agreed to sign each of the 100 limited edition Portfolios,” said Spitzmiller.
