Lucas Black: From Film to Real Life

Actor Lucas Black to Make Pro Golf Debut at Avoca Classic at Scotch Hall Preserve

Actor Lucas Black played an aspiring golf professional in the 2011 movie Seven Days in Utopia. This week in a small town in northeastern North Carolina, he’ll take on that role in real life.

The 30-year old actor is planning to make his professional golf debut at the 3rd annual Avoca Classic, an official event on the NGA Professional Golf Tour, formerly known as The Hooters Tour.

The tournament will be June 11-16 at Scotch Hall Preserve, the acclaimed Arnold Palmer Signature course overlooking the Albemarle Sound near Windsor, NC in Bertie County.

Black will compete against a full field of 156 professionals in the Avoca Classic, considered one of the most challenging venues on the NGA Tour. The field will be trimmed to the low 72 players and ties after Friday’s second round, with the final round on Sunday, June 16.

Black has built an impressive resume as an actor, with featured roles in 42, Promised Land and The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, in addition to starring with Robert Duvall in Seven Days in Utopia.
The Scotch Hall Preserve golf course was recently selected as one of North Carolina’s most scenic golf courses by Triangle Golf magazine. It is the centerpiece amenity of Scotch Hall Preserve, a 900-acre waterfront community on the Albemarle Sound between the historic towns of Edenton and Windsor.
