Billy Casper Golf Selected to Manage Meadows Farms Golf Course

Home to ‘Longest Hole in the United States,’ Baseball Diamond-Shaped Par-3, Amazing Waterfall Hole

(LOCUST GROVE, VA) – Meadows Farms Golf Course (Locust Grove, VA) has selected Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. – to manage the 27-hole, championship layout that boasts the longest hole in America.

Headquartered in Vienna, VA, BCG will turnkey all facets of the daily-fee Meadows Farms operation, including course and property maintenance, staffing and training, clubhouse activities, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.

Local businessman Ken Dotson, owner of a longstanding construction and real estate company, recently purchased Meadows Farms Golf Course from iconic Bill “Farmer” Meadows, owner of Meadows Farms Nurseries with 22 locations in the Mid-Atlantic. Rob Waldron of the National Golf & Resort Properties Group of Marcus & Millichap brokered the transaction.

“Meadows Farms is an important component of the recreation and economic stature of the Locust Grove community, so we felt it important ownership be local,” says Dotson. “Billy Casper Golf is also relatively local, came highly recommended, and its commitment to personalized operations are impressive.”

“Billy Casper Golf is proud to manage Meadows Farms Golf Course,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BGC. “The uniqueness of the layout gives golfers great thrills, and Billy Casper Golf is primed to further popularize the experience as a fun and unforgettable ‘must play’ to a wider audience.”

Meadows Farms is located 60 minutes from both Washington DC and Richmond, 45 minutes from Charlottesville and 15 minutes from Fredericksburg, VA.

The Bill Ward Jr., design opened in 1993 and is spread over 268 acres of Santa Gertrudis cattle farmland. The natural lay of the land, seasonal flora, rock and railroad tie walls in an around greens and bunkers, and seven water crossings make Meadows Farms a beautiful setting. The course layout gives golfers many options to play each hole, no matter their skill level.

The three, nine-hole layouts feature highly individualized holes which “leave golfers with the feeling of playing 27 different courses rather than playing the same hole 27 times.” Among the innovative designs are a baseball diamond-shaped par 3, an 841-yard par 6 recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as “the longest hole in the United States,” and an island green hole.

The intimidating but fun No. 4 hole on the “Waterfall Nine” is set in front of a hospital used for both sides during the Civil War. On the way up to the green, golfers drive their carts through an old-looking, stone structure with water cascading over it, making for the coolest waterfall most have ever seen.

In addition to an expansive putting green and grass tee driving range, Meadows Farms features an inviting clubhouse, fully-stocked pro shop and the Red Bull Grill that, with an elaborate menu and stunning views, is a popular setting for corporate and social outings.
