Honours Golf to Manage The Bluffs on Thompson Creek

(Birmingham, Ala.) – Honours Golf, the premier golf management company in the Southeastern United States, has been selected by The Bluffs Renaissance to provide club management and agronomic services for The Bluffs on Thompson Creek. This semi-private club is located outside of Baton Rouge, in St. Francisville, La.

Established in 1988, The Bluffs on Thompson Creek features an 18-hole Arnold Palmer signature design golf course located within a 300-home, master-planned community in the West Feliciana Parish of Louisiana close to where John James Audubon painted his famous Birds of America. Stretching more than 7,100 yards, this championship course meanders through rolling hills, dense hardwood forests, flowing creeks, and scenic bluffs.

“As new owners and residents of The Bluffs, we wanted to give our club and community the best chance we could for making The Bluffs on Thompson Creek the great destination venue that Arnold Palmer anticipated more than 27 years ago,” said Ken Carter, partner of The Bluffs Renaissance, LLC. "I do believe that The Bluffs on Thompson Creek can become one of the finest golf destinations in the country, if not the world. We believe that Honours and Troon can make that happen."

The natural beauty and undisturbed terrain provided the perfect canvas for Arnold Palmer. As with many Palmer courses, The Bluffs rewards the risk-taker and accurate shot-maker. Almost every hole could be considered the “signature hole.” However, it is Hole No. 17 that provides the most memorable and lasting impression with its 60-foot drop from the tee to a deep green guarded by Thompson Creek on two sides. In fact, it was selected as one of the feature holes in “The King’s Dream 18” by Kingdom Magazine.

“The Bluffs on Thompson Creek has been consistently rated one of the top courses in Louisiana and we are honored to be given the opportunity to manage the club,” stated Bob Barrett, chief executive officer of Honours Golf. “Our management, customer service and agronomic practices will help to enhance and elevate The Bluffs to a new level of excellence.”

At the centerpiece of The Bluffs is its charming, West Indie style clubhouse that is situated at the highest point of the property overlooking the golf course and Thompson Creek. The spacious clubhouse features two dining experiences. The 19th Hole, which features freshly made sandwiches, burgers and other casual fare, along with local Creole and Cajun dishes. The Palmer Room offers a more upscale dining experience, featuring fresh local seafood and hand-cut steaks.

In addition, The Bluffs on Thompson Creek offers plenty of indoor and outdoor banquet space in the main clubhouse and cottage for events ranging from business meetings to weddings. The Chapel, which overlooks Hole No. 9 and a small pond, presents a picturesque and serene outdoor wedding venue and the Lodge at The Bluffs provides onsite accommodations for out-of-town guests. The Bluffs also includes many other modern amenities including two outdoor swimming pools and children’s swim area, a spacious fitness center with everything from cardio equipment to free weights, two tennis courts, and scenic walking trails.
