(RELEASE) - The team at North Georgia’s award-winning Barnsley Resort announced the opening of its new Golf School and the addition of Travis Nance as the new master teaching professional.

The Golf School is the latest addition to the resort’s existing golf programming and world-class Jim Fazio course. The new facility includes a 750 sq. ft. teaching studio offering an enclosed environment where students can tee-off from the bays out onto the driving range, making it easy to teach in any type of weather. Guests and members will have access to private golf instruction for all levels - novice to professional, PGA clinics and classes. Those looking for more in-depth instruction will soon have the opportunity to enroll in one and two-day golf school packages.

“With the opening of our new school, Barnsley is one of the only green grass facilities in North Georgia to offer custom fittings from four leading manufacturers - TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping and PXG - as well as corporate group activities, individual lessons, and technology-enhanced teaching opportunities under one roof,” said Buddy Nichols, director of sporting & recreation. “We’re really excited to offer our guests and members the state-of-the-art TrackMan technology that provides the most accurate feedback in the industry, in addition to a lot of fun, interactive gaming opportunities.”

Turning pro in 1998 and playing on the tour for eight years, Travis Nance is helping to bring the Golf School to life. Nance won over a dozen professional tournaments and was a PGA Qualifying School finalist in 2002. He joins Barnsley from his previous role as a teaching professional at the Darlington School Golf Academy, an independent school located in Rome, Georgia. Nance started his teaching career as a professional at Coosa Country Club, also in Rome.

The Golf School is just one element of the resort’s ongoing growth, as the current expansion will add 55 rooms with the new Inn at Barnsley Resort, and more than 9,000 square feet of indoor event space with the Georgian Hall, both scheduled to debut in March 2018.
