Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Headlines New Courses Offering StrackaLine Greens Guides

Golfers Can Use Same Greens Guides Professional Golfers Are Using to Aid Putting

(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) – The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach, a highly acclaimed Jack Nicklaus design in Palm Coast, Fla., headlines a quartet of courses recently scanned by StrackaLine that now offer professional greens guides to golfers.

Winter Haven (Fla.) Country Club, The Club at Savannah (Ga.) Harbor, and Onion Creek Country Club have also joined the StrackaLine family.

The Ocean Course, which reopened in late 2017 after completing a renovation in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, is a consensus top 100 public layout. Winter Haven is one of Central Florida’s most prestigious private clubs, Savannah Harbor, a Troon managed course, plays through the historic city’s tidal wetlands, and Onion Creek is one of Central Texas’ most storied clubs.

“We are delighted to offer StrackaLine Greens Guides for the Ocean Course, Winter Haven Country Club, the Club at Savannah Harbor, and Onion Creek Country Club,” said Jim Stracka, president of StrackaLine. “All four courses offer a premium experience, and our StrackaLine Greens Guides will help golfers play their best. The StrackaLine library now includes more than 700 courses and it’s growing.”

StrackaLine scans courses for $1,500 and that includes 100 greens guides for resale. The scanning process takes five hours to complete and is unobtrusive to the golfer experience.

StrackaLine’s quality and accuracy have led to widespread adoption on the PGA, LPGA and tours, in addition to their use by more than 300 Division I college teams.

The greens maps, which feature easy to read arrows, allow players to view contour and fall lines, in addition to slope percentage, anywhere on the green.

StrackaLine now has 700+ courses scanned, including some of the nation's most prominent layouts. Use of the greens guides at the highest levels of the game surged throughout 2017, and the company now counts nearly every Division I golf program, including last year’s national champions, among its users.

Professional usage has helped drive interest in the StrackaLine Greens Guides, and the technology is just as valuable to "regular" amateur golfers hoping to improve their score.

For golf course owners and operators, the technology can be used to improve pace of play and help ensure quality course conditions. StrackaLine offers hole location software that allows superintendents to utilize a proprietary algorithm to help set hole locations.

StrackaLine will continue to add to its library of golf courses throughout 2018. It takes just eight minutes to scan and capture an entire green and the StrackaLine team can complete an 18-hole course and practice green in five hours without disrupting play.

Zero Friction’s Colorful Supertube Package Delivering As Promised For Golf Retailers

(OAK BROOK TERRACE, IL) – Zero Friction has earned a reputation for bringing creative products like the DistancePro GPS Glove and performance golf tees to the market. Now the company has turned its creative vision to packaging.

Zero Friction introduced Spectra Supertube packaging to its retail clients in December, and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. The Supertube includes one Universal Compression Fit golf glove, three Spectra Matte Finish golf balls and 10 ZFT Maxx 3-prong golf tees, all color-matched.

“The Supertube is pretty much perfect,” said Todd Bentrup of Golf Discount of St. Louis. “The company did everything right with it. The display is very visual.  The vibrant colors stand out because the tubes are clear and there is no oversized lettering to block the colors. Customers are drawn to the display.”

Mike Pedo of New York Golf Center agrees.

“The Supertube is a big thumbs up for me,” said Pedo. “We sell a lot of them. It’s a great price point at $19.99. I really like the attraction of having all the products the same color.”

Color has been a cornerstone for many of the Zero Friction products. And company president John Iacono saw an opportunity to utilize their colorful products in a way that would benefit their retail shop partners.

“More and more golfers are adding color to their game, and our product line addresses that trend,” said Iacono. “Our Supertube provides an attractive, affordable and simple method for golfers to purchase products they all need.”

Zero Friction is responsible for establishing the performance tee market and bringing to light the importance the tee plays in the game of golf. Since its debut in 2005, the Zero Friction Tee has been the #1 performance tee on the PGA TOUR with over 70 PGA TOUR victories.

The Spectra golf ball is a high quality 2-piece distance ball finished in 6 matte colors: White, Lime, Red, Lemon, Orange and Fuchsia. The large, super-fast core provides explosive distance, high launch and longer roll off the tee.

“Our Spectra golf balls create a higher visual appeal for the player,” said Iacono.  “Other countries have been selling colored golf balls for years. It was just a matter of time before colored balls caught on in the US.”

Zero Friction’s weather resistant performance glove takes the guesswork out of finding the perfect size. Unlike any other golf glove, Zero Friction uses its patented compression-fit technology to deliver outstanding precision, flexibility and comfort to every golfer that puts one on. And they come in a rainbow of colors.

The Supertube combines all those quality, colorful products into one value-packed purchase.

“The Supertubes are just that – super,” said Kyle Gerrard of Blue Mash Golf Course in Maryland. “They are perfect for our junior camps. The fact that they offer a bunch of different colors makes it fun for the kids.”

Bentrup of Golf Discount of St. Louis is especially pleased with the quality of the products.
“The compression fit glove has enough strategic flex zones that will expand if needed to provide the right fit,” he said. “They are a nice addition to the package. We received an initial shipment of 30 Supertubes and blew through them really quickly. We had to get a second shipment they were so popular.”

Palmilla Golf Club Debuts New RoboGolfPro Teaching Aid

(Los Cabos, Mexico) – Palmilla Golf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico recently debuted a new swing training aid called the RoboGolfPro. Palmilla Golf Club is the only location in Los Cabos with the revolutionary training aid that allows golfers to build their perfect swing by taking them through the correct movements with the help of video and mechanical training.

The RoboGolfPro swing trainer was developed by tour player, equipment designer and instructor, Scot W.R. Nei.  The robot-like arms on the RoboGolfPro take students through the motion of their perfect swing, creating the “aha moment” by combining the feel and understanding of what the swing should be. PGA TOUR professionals Vaughn Taylor, Bryson DeChambeau and David Toms all work with the RoboGolfPro. Taylor, while working with Nei and the RoboGolfPro, won the 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

“Working with the RoboGolfPro allows the student to see immediate results,” said Jaron Higgens, a PGA Teaching Professional at Palmilla Golf Club.  “It is amazing the work that can be done both on and off the Robot.”

Higgens recently moved to Los Cabos from Calgary, Alberta Canada, where has been teaching with the RoboGolfPro for the last year. “I’m excited to bring this new technology to Los Cabos and the Palmilla Golf Club,” added Higgens.

Instruction with Higgens and the RoboGolfPro is available through Palmilla Golf Club. For more information on Palmilla Golf Club and the RoboGolfPro, visit or call +52-624-144-5250.

PEAKVISION Sunglasses Under New Ownership

Named 1 of 9 top items at 2018 PGA Merchandising Show by Orlando Sentinel

(CONWAY, SC) - PEAKVISION, the sunglasses that took the golf world by storm with its unique, patented Dual-Zone/Zero Distortion lens, is under new ownership. David Feaser of Conway, South Carolina, who’s been in the sunglass business for 30 years as the owner of Shades of George (, bought PEAKVISION company assets and all the patents for the popular lenses from the original company in May 2017, and is running the company as President/CEO.

Nicholas Feaser is National Sales Manager of PEAKVISION. The father-son team is committed to growing the brand and giving back to the golf community.

The Orlando Sentinel named PEAKVISION one of the top nine items at the PGA Merchandising Show this year. Read the article HERE.

“PEAKVISION lenses have such great clarity and high definition that it provides three times more visual information on the green for an impeccable read,” says David Feaser. “Everywhere we go, golfers come up to me and tell me they’re the best sunglasses on the market. These sunglasses visually ‘Change you Game,’ and help you make better putts and save strokes on the green.”
“Let’s face it,” Feaser continues. “Your round is won or lost on the green so if you can save one or more strokes off your game, who wouldn’t want to try these sunglasses? Most golfers take their sunglasses off or put them on their hats or head while they putt. Your eyes during that moment are adjusting to more visual information, which makes putting even more difficult. With PEAKVISION Sunglasses, it provides a continuity of visual information and you don’t have to take the sunglasses off. In fact, you’ll want to leave them on!”

PEAKVISION offers a line of Jack Nicklaus-signature sunglasses as well. “The JN1 and the JN5 in the collection reflect the high standards of Jack Nicklaus himself,” adds Feaser. All PEAKVISION styles are available and are currently on-sale by ordering on-line at

PEAKVISION will be partnering with the Myrtle Beach World Amateur in Myrtle Beach, S.C., August 27-31, 2018 by providing PEAKVISION Sunglasses to the winning golfers.

The easiest way to order PEAKVISION is to go on-line at PEAKVISION ships the same day the order is placed.

Part-time Approach Helps Karrie Webb Choose Life Over Golf

By Andrew Spence

(ARTICLE) - Karrie Webb is hopeful that scaling back her job to “part-time” will keep her fresh enough to gain some work-life balance and extend her career.

Webb, 43, will chase her sixth national title and 42nd LPGA win when she tees off in the ISPS Handa Australian Open at Adelaide’s famous Kooyonga Golf Club tomorrow.

However, unlike past years when it was the first of six events in seven weeks for Webb, the tournament in South Australia could be one of only about 10 this year on the global LPGA Tour.

“I think this will be my 23rd season and golf’s a 12-month commitment. As the years have gone on I’ve still put golf first but the last handful of years I haven’t felt good about always choosing golf,” Webb told reporters at Kooyonga today.

“I’m trying out the part-time schedule this year … so hopefully I can take part in some life events and still play some golf, because I still feel like there’s a little bit left there.”

Webb is also considering playing some events on the Legends Tour in the United States, which she will be eligible for once she turns 45.

“I guess I’m not quite ready to put the clubs away. I’ll see if I can do both and we’ll just assess it as time goes on.”

Now ranked No. 98 in the world and the fifth highest ranked Aussie behind Minjee Lee (16), Katherine Kirk (56), Su Oh (78) and Sarah Jane Smith (84), Webb last won the Australian Open in 2014.

However, she said she feels ready to compete this week despite only playing one tournament since September.

“I feel quite fresh and ready to play this week. I’m pretty happy with the practice I’ve done, so we’ll just see what happens,” the North Queenslander said.

“I’ve come here the last few years and it’s the start of that hard slog (but) coming here this week, just with a completely fresh mindset and actually looking forward to playing, so that’s what I hope the part-time thing is.”

As Webb looks towards the twilight of her career, West Australian 21-year-old Minjee Lee is steadily marching towards the world’s top 10.

Lee won her maiden LPGA tournament in the United States in 2016 and tuned up for this week’s tournament in Adelaide with a win in the Victorian Open and a runner-up finish in the Canberra Classic last week.

She said her goal was to win this week.

“I don’t think anybody comes into a tournament not wanting to win,” Lee said.

“I think all the Aussies are getting stronger. It’s going to be a really great tournament, everybody’s playing well.”

The tournament’s LPGA status means it has prizemoney of about $1.65 million (US$1.3 million), significantly more than the $1.25 million on offer at the men’s Australian Open.

This week’s field will feature eight of the world’s top 20 players including So Yeon Ryu, Cristie Kerr, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson and Ariya Jutanugarn.

Eight past Women’s Australian Open champions including Webb, last year’s winner Ha Na Jang, Haru Nomura, Laura Davies and Catriona Matthew will also tee up to see if they can again hold the Patricia Bridges Bowl aloft.

Kooyonga was the home club of Sir Donald Bradman and has hosted the Men’s Australian Open five times but it will be the first time the national women’s open is played at the Lockleys course in suburban Adelaide.

It is the third year in a row the event has been held in Adelaide following successful events Royal Adelaide and The Grange.

South Australia has positioned itself as a hub for elite women’s sport and also hosts annual international cycling event the Women’s Tour Down Under.

It was announced this week that the South Australian capital will continue to host the Australian Women’s Golf Open until at least 2021.

The decision to invest in BIG MAX rental carts at Chambers Bay was relatively simple as the venue wanted a rental cart that reflected the quality on offer at the course, as Brent Zepp (PGA), Chambers Bay Director of Golf commented, "The brand we had been using as our pull cart at Chambers Bay was fine but nothing special.  When I visited the UK this past summer and saw the BIG MAX three wheel cart at almost every facility I had to take a look.  This cart is going to be a great upgrade for our guest and what’s good for 'The Home of Golf' is good for Chambers Bay!"

The Fleet 333C from BIG MAX is the flagship model in the rental fleet range. A soft handle with large storage compartment, 2 Quick Fix and 2 Quick Lok bases for accessories and an ultra-smooth 3 wheel ride show off the cart’s quality, while robust BIG MAX construction delivers long lasting reliability. Optional accessories such as basket with bottle holder, sand bottle holder and advertising sign space complete the offer, making the Fleet 333C an attractive option for any venue.

While the list of BIG MAX rental venues is starting to look like a Top 100 course list, it’s the desire to offer a quality package for every golfer that shines in the venues that choose BIG MAX for their fleet. If you’d like to learn more about the simple, affordable ways to bring quality rentals to your course, contact BIG MAX USA General Manager Mike McHugh at or on 888-510-0560.

Billy Casper Golf, Morningstar Golf and Hospitality Acquire Fox Hollow Golf Club (Branchburg, NJ)

(Branchburg, NJ) – Billy Casper Golf and Morningstar Golf and Hospitality lead a partnership group that has acquired the popular Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, New Jersey, about one hour west of New York City.

New ownership plans to commit significant resources to enhance course conditions, personable service and a full slate of activities for beginner, intermediate and highly-skilled golfers.

The semi-private Fox Hollow – voted one of the top northeast golf courses by readers of Garden State Golf Magazine – features a fun and challenging, 18-hole, 6,371-yard, par-70 layout rife with elevation changes. Golfers also praise the greens which are pristine, fast and contain more-than-occasional undulations.

Originally designed by Hal Purdy, once a construction supervisor for legendary architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the course was completely re-modeled in 2000. It is augmented by a driving range with 20 grass tees and a bunkered practice green and spacious putting green. Private and group lessons are conducted by PGA professionals.

Individual, junior and corporate memberships are available, and greens and cart fees are reasonably priced.  In addition to hosting special events, the attractive clubhouse boasts a well-established restaurant with majestic views of the golf course.

“Fox Hollow represents a unique opportunity to combine complimentary resources of two leading course owner-operators,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of Billy Casper Golf. “The result will be an even higher satisfaction among members and public golfers.”

“Beautiful vistas, rolling topography and some of the best holes in central New Jersey define Fox Hollow – it’s a gem,” says Matt Galvin, President and CEO of Morningstar. “Billy Casper Golf’s marketing prowess and infrastructure, and Morningstar’s local presence and hands-on involvement, will elevate Fox Hollow’s attraction locally and regionally.”

The first of many community outreaches is to grow family participation, and Fox Hollow is offering free golf to children with a paid adult after 3 p.m. daily.

Through association with the combined management team, Fox Hollow members now enjoy special opportunities to play Royce Brook Golf Club, Cranbury Golf Club and The Shore Club in New Jersey as well as Shawnee Resort in Pennsylvania.

Arnold Palmer Design Company Commits Service to Operation Support Military Golf Project

Iconic Firm Supports Non-Profit’s Work at Naval Station Mayport’s Windy Harbor Golf Club;
Joins Organization in ‘Reviving the Golf Courses that Revitalize Our Heroes’

(JACKSONVILLE, Florida) – Operation Support Military Golf (OSMG) – the non-profit organization which exists to enhance service members' morale, welfare, and recreation by improving golf courses and associated facilities at bases worldwide – today announces that Arnold Palmer Design Company (APDC) will provide in-kind renovation work at Naval Station Mayport’s Windy Harbor facility.

The Arnold Palmer Design Company (, led by Brandon Johnson, Vice President, Senior Golf Course Architect and ASGCA Associate, will assist in enhancing the practice facility at Windy Harbor. No stranger to paying it forward, Johnson joined the Arnold Palmer Design team in 2006 following a fruitful tenure as Manager of Design for The First Tee, where he was instrumental in assisting the budding youth development organization reach its 250 Phase 1 facility goals.

“Arnold Palmer Design Company’s assistance is invaluable and will enable service members and their families – past, present and future -- to benefit from bolstered morale, wellness and recreation afforded by the Mayport facility,” says OSMG Founder Jennifer Poth. “There are 145 golf courses at bases worldwide – 111 in the U.S. – and many are falling into disrepair due to zero dollars being appropriated for their upkeep.”

“With gratitude, we are eager to assist Operation Support Military Golf and make life more enjoyable for the sailors and families of Naval Station Mayport who sacrifice so much on our behalf,” says Johnson.

In addition to the practice facility refurbishment, the cart barn and on-course restrooms will be replaced. However, funds and / or in-kind service for that work have yet to be secured.

“Brandon’s willingness – and that of his fellow Arnold Palmer Design VP Thad Layton – to support our groundbreaking military non-profit with their generosity, time and talent is appreciated more than we can put in words,” says Poth, who was inspired to found OSMG after the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing. “Mr. Palmer is forever a legend through his actions on and off the golf course and in uniform serving our great nation. To have his company and spirit involved with OSMG is an honor and privilege. We’re hopeful this will motivate others to help our mission.”

In addition to the Arnold Palmer Design Company, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (, American Society of Golf Course Architects (, Golf Course Builders Association of America (, Sanford Golf Design (, and MacCurrach Golf Construction ( have pledged to assist OSMG (

OSMG was created to serve those who have, do and will serve our nation by ensuring their Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) is not forgotten. Positive MWR is an integral component in the well-being and quality of life of our service members and their families.

As a groundbreaking, global, military supportive, 501(c)(3) non-profit, OSMG's goal is to provide a $1 million infusion to each military golf facility. Helping increase accessibility for our wounded and aging veterans, reducing golf facilities maintenance costs through modernized equipment, and increasing overall visual enjoyment are just some of the specific benefits from the upgrades.

Military courses are spread throughout Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine bases. OSMG strives to rotate through the services, one base at a time, to equitably support each.

PING Apparel Unveils Spring-Summer '18 Collection

(PHOENIX) – A focus on technological innovation, premium performance fabrics, superior comfort, and new color stories elevates quality and visual continuity across PING Apparel’s new Spring-Summer '18 collections for men and women. The clothing and accessories are available in select golf shops now.

“This collection re-emphasizes the high importance we place on performance for our clothing and for golfers – they are intertwined,” said Andy Solheim, PING Executive Vice President. “Our designers and our technology partners have done a great job elevating comfort, breathability and freedom of movement while tailoring every design to the modern game. Our clothing moves with the golfer, and the new fabrics, styles and colors put PING Apparel in a class by itself.”

One key addition is Tekfit® Technology, which provides up to two additional inches of waistband stretch in select garments to improve freedom and range of movement. This hidden technology is fully breathable and maintains its stretch memory for the life of the garment. Tekfit is found in two new men’s shorts -- the Hendrick and the Bradley -- and in the ladies’ Livia skort.

Solheim said the SS18 collection carries on with its Sensor Technology Platform – SensorWarm, SensorCool, and SensorDry – clothing custom-engineered to perform from base layer to outer layer to meet the demands of golf. “Sensor Technology is a meaningful, practical point of difference with PING Apparel, allowing us to take a big step forward in comfort and performance whether you’re playing in cool spring weather, the wind and rain, or midsummer heat.”
PING Apparel continues to innovate by sourcing unique performance fabrications direct from its mill partners. The Elliott blends polyester CoolMax, and elastane, resulting in full comfort for all-weather climates and temperatures. A new polo, the Harvey, is constructed with a unique peached fabric with a very soft and quiet hand. This space-dyed polo also features a concealed button-down collar and a three-button grown-on placket. A new butter-soft baby pique fabric is featured in the Quinn polo while the Connor uses the same soft, peachy feel of the Harvey. The Karsten II is made of a premium fabric blend of polyester, tencel and elastane.

The men’s color stories are Drift Away, Purple Haze, and Disruption. Drift Away features Seafoam green as the lead color, creating a contemporary collection. Seafoam offers a fresh, cooling mid tone and combines with black, silver and asphalt to give depth to this refined summer palette. Paired with white and grey toned neutrals, Seafoam presents a youthful appeal. Purple Haze is a sophisticated palette combining shades of rich plum paired with cool celestial blues and core navy, offering a smooth transition from winter to spring. Disruption combines vibrant imperial blue with pops of orange burst and with core navy and white to make a statement.

In outerwear, the Delta is an ultralight, full-stretch, 100% windproof jacket (the Nyla in the ladies line). This truly engineered jacket features stretch-mesh lining, back venting, and angled vents to the side panels. The Truman is a lightweight stretch ¼ zip with a ribbed inner collar for interest and features 50+ UPF sun protection.
With its ladies collection, PING Apparel enables golfers to integrate premium, elevated sportswear with her everyday wardrobe. The line balances performance, style and comfort with classic looks. New collar silhouettes play with tradition in a feminine and relaxed look. Attributes include sophisticated and simple color blocking, overlapped and crossover details, back detailing, and minimal abstraction prints using soft geometrics and subtle textures.

The SS18 color palette works as a modular system with compatible colors. Amplified Pinks, combining bold, exotic and strong pinks, can be merchandised back to white and/or citadel grey. The key color in the Focus story is cobalt blue, offering sophistication with a hint of sportswear influence. Monochromes is a collection of linking pieces that work well on their own or across the other two color stories.

Two new polos, the Sienna and the sleeveless Dee, feature the CoolMax fabric constructed of poly CoolMax, poly and elastane. A new peached poly fabric is featured in the Beau polo and a new, ¾ sleeve style called the Cora. In bottoms, PING Apparel added two colors to the popular Adele pull-on stretch pant, and the Livia skort includes Tekfit stretch waistband technology. Two new lightweight spring merino-wool sweaters highlight the layering options.

Knuth Golf’s High Heat 257+ Receives Rave Reviews after Launch at PGA Merchandise Show

(BONITA, CA) – Knuth Golf launched its breakthrough product, the High Heat 257+ metalwoods, at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show and the reviews have been off the charts.

“With its novel 3-trampoline technology the ball comes off so hot no matter where you hit it,” said Gary Van Sickle, President of the Golf Writers Association of America. “It feels like hitting a home run anywhere I hit it on the face.”

The High Heat 257+ technology is a result of a change to the 18-year-old CT Rule. "CT" stands for Characteristi3 clubs v1c Time, which is a USGA and R&A test that measures the amount of time the ball can stay on the face. This rule change permits a golf face to be much hotter with a CT above 257 and up to 275, but only in the large toe and heel areas.

The new technology, bringing more trampoline effect into the large toe and heel areas, was believed to be impossible to achieve, reflected by the fact that no brand had accomplished it in the two-year span since the rule change occurred. The highest ball speed has always been in the center of the face, and the CTs in the toe and heel areas have been in the low 200s compared to the low 250s in the middle of the face.

But designer Dean Knuth saw the possibilities, and made it happen with his new 3-trampoline technology instead of the traditional variable thickness technology. Now, High Heat is the only company in the market with CT values greater than 257 consistent with the USGA’s 2016 CT Rule.

High Heat 257+’s 3-TrampTech addresses two issues that affect most amateur golfers, both of which happen when golfers miss the center of the clubface. They are sometimes too far from the green to reach in regulation, or their approach shots end up short of the green. With High Heat 257+, amateurs will get more than their current average driving distance, and they will get their intended distance on approach shots even if they hit it on the toe or heel, leading to more greens in regulation.

“Not only will amateurs get increased distance on toe and heel hits with High Heat’s 257+’s 3-trampoline technology, they will get the same feel as a center hit with added confidence.” – Golf Talk Live.

High Heat has taken the golf industry by storm since entering the market in 2015 with a simple but crucial premise – design clubs specifically for amateur swings and performance needs. The High Heat driver, fairway woods and hybrids, featuring lower and deeper center of gravity, have all been named in numerous media “best products lists.” Customers rave about increased performance and lower scores with High Heat in their bag.

Now, with 257+, High Heat again beats the major brands to the punch.

“The hottest face in golf for the past three years just got hotter, so your mishits will go further,” said Tim Branco, publisher of Northeast Golf Magazine and

Knuth figured out a way to incorporate the now-conforming extra spring-like effect into the toe and heel of the already successful and popular line of High Heatmirror face v1 metalwoods. The end result with High Heat’s new technology is that there is a significant increase in ball speed on hits in the large toe and heel areas where the CT can be as high as 275. And it is a known fact that greater ball speed equals more distance.

His ability to bring this technology to fruition will certainly solidify Knuth’s reputation as one of the golf industry’s brightest minds. His early High Heat designs were ahead of all major brands incorporating a much lower and much deeper CG, for which he was the only club designer honored by Golf Inc. magazine as an “Innovator In Player Development” in 2016. And during his USGA days he created the USGA's Course Rating and Slope Rating System used in handicapping, which Golf Digest stated was one of the eight most important technologies in the past 50 years.

“Most amateur golfers struggle to hit the center of the clubface consistently,” said Knuth, a former USGA Senior Director. “It was with that thought in mind that we created our first High Heat clubs. Now, with this new 3-trampoline technology, amateur golfers will have an even bigger advantage when playing High Heat.”

Several golf instructors who tested High Heat 257+ at the PGA Show Demo Day sang its praises.

“Hitting on the toe, heel or center of the race of the High Heat 257+ driver felt great and the distance was the same for every shot,” said Jason Krier, PGA teaching professional from Pennsylvania. “You can’t miss. Amazing.”

Added Kevin Cloud, golf instructor from Connecticut, “I am impressed when I hit off the heel and toe of the 257+ the ball did not turn, and the heel shots appear to go further than hits on the sweet spot. Most of us fall short of the green on approach shots, but will not with High Heat 257+.”

And this from PGA professional Allen Van Valkenburg of Texas: “High Heat 257+ is fantastic. Off-center misses have been phenomenal. Hitting it has been inspirational. You can’t mishit it. Great clubs to have in your bag.”

High Heat 257+ drivers and fairway woods will be available for delivery in April 2018, and hybrids in June.

Silvies Valley Ranch Debuts McVeigh's Gauntlet with Caddies that are the G.O.A.T.

Dan Hixson’s 7-hole challenge course to open at The Links at Silvies Valley Ranch in July 2018 with a truly unique caddie program – trained American Range Goats

(SILVIES, OREGON) – As far as caddies go, Steve Williams, Mike “Fluff” Cowan, Jim “Bones” Mackay and James “Tip” Anderson are a few of the G.O.A.T.s. Partnering with golf legends like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Arnold Palmer, they brought trust, honesty and guidance to the game, enhancing the play of all those who walked alongside them. In 2018, The Retreat & Links at Silvies Valley Ranch will provide the same type of on-course support for its guests when it debuts a new 7-hole challenge course, McVeigh’s Gauntlet, this summer, offering G.O.A.T. caddies to their guests - literally.

Born and bred at Silvies Valley Ranch, professionally trained American Range Goat caddies will be available for hire on McVeigh’s Gauntlet, the latest golf experience to open at The Links at Silvies Valley Ranch. Saddled up with a custom-designed goat caddie pack that carries drinks, golf balls, tees and a few clubs, the goats will join players on The Gauntlet, bringing an entirely new sense of whimsy, entertainment and fun to the golf experience.

“We’re taking the golf experience at Silvies Valley Ranch to a new level in 2018,” says Dr. Scott Campbell, veterinarian and owner of The Retreat & Links at Silvies Valley Ranch. “We’ve been developing an unprecedented caddie training program with our head caddie, Bruce LeGoat, to ensure that he and his team are ready for the opening of The Gauntlet this summer. We’re truly redefining both goat and golf operations at the ranch. Can you think of another course where its caddies were literally born, raised and fully educated on-property? We will get you a caddie who really knows the course and won’t give you any bad advice – and they work for peanuts!”

Designed by Dan Hixson, one of the most celebrated course architects in the Pacific Northwest, McVeigh’s Gauntlet joins Hixson’s 18-hole reversible layouts, the Hankins and Craddock Courses, and the 9-hole par-3 Chief Egan Course at The Links at Silvies Valley Ranch. A stunning 7-hole ridge course carved into a razor back, the course is challenging in design, yet fun and care-free to play in a short amount of time. McVeigh’s Gauntlet was designed to help players settle bets and test their accuracy on a series of par-3s and par-4s, while marveling at the views and the Western appeal of the ranch.

“Working with Scott on this project has been a lot of fun,” says course architect, Dan Hixson. “As a designer, having the trust, and space, to truly let loose and design not one, but four different courses with literally no boundaries, has been a rewarding experience. I’m eager for players to travel to Frontier Oregon to play each of the courses – they’re really unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

Since opening to guests in summer 2017, its preview season, The Retreat & Links at Silvies Valley Ranch has made its mark in the industry as Golf’s Newest Frontier. With luxurious Western-inspired accommodations, fine dining options, an extensive Scotch collection, unique activities and two of the country’s first reversible 18-hole courses, the boutique eco-resort is a must-see destination for families, couples, buddy trips, corporate groups and visitors across the globe.

This April marks the official opening season for The Retreat & Links at Silvies Valley Ranch. For more information, call 1-800-SILVIES, email or visit

Tiger Woods Announces TGR Foundation

(IRVINE, Calif.) - In fall 2016, Tiger Woods set a professional evolution in motion with the launch of TGR Ventures (pronounced ‘T-G-R’), an umbrella brand that marked the next chapter in the golfer, businessman and philanthropist’s legacy. Now the evolution continues as the Tiger Woods Foundation renames itself as TGR Foundation, A Tiger Woods Charity—the next phase in a longstanding plan for the educational nonprofit.

“Over the last 21 years, my foundation has grown to be larger than just me, and today I’m excited to announce our new name, TGR Foundation, that reflects this growth,” said Woods. “TGR Foundation belongs to the community and the students we serve. We’ve accomplished so much over the years, but we’ve just scratched the surface. I look forward to the next stage of our journey.”

Founded in 1996 as a means to provide more for children who have less, TGR Foundation will continue to transform young lives across the country and around the world with its innovative STEM-based curriculum, college-access programs and digital initiatives.

“The evolution of the Tiger Woods Foundation to TGR Foundation has been in the making for some time now,” explains foundation President & CEO Rick Singer.” The foundation took its first steps towards the transition to TGR in early 2017 with the launch of TGR EDU: Explore, an interactive, digital campus created in partnership with Discovery Education. We’re excited to be continuing a process we began over a year ago and to drive forward our initiative to reach millions of kids worldwide.”

Along with the launch of TGR EDU: Explore, early 2017 saw the unveiling of TGR EDU: Create, a program aimed at providing professional development and resources for educators involved in the vital subjects of STEM education and college access.

Having served more than 165,000 students since opening its doors in 2006, the Tiger Woods Learning Centers were renamed as the TGR Learning Labs last year. The learning labs remain a safe space, offering hands-on STEM-based classes and college-readiness programs to young people in Anaheim, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Washington, DC, New York City, NY, Stuart, FL, and the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA.

A bedrock of the foundation for over a decade, the Earl Woods Scholar Program (EWSP) announced an expansion plan last year, to double its current number of scholars. Reinforcing its plans for growth, EWSP will expand into the Los Angeles market this year. To date, EWSP has helped nearly 200 scholars attend top universities around the country and boasts a 98% graduation rate.

“While the foundation’s name has changed to reflect its scale, reach and growth, our core focus of guiding underserved youth remains the same,” said Dr. Katherine Bihr, Vice President of Programs & Education for the foundation. “As we expand the scope of our programs, we are confident that under our new name, TGR Foundation, we will continue to be synonymous with quality education and the transformative work we are known for.”

Under his vision, Woods will continue to guide TGR Foundation in the important work of equipping low-income students with STEM and college-readiness programs and the mindset to persevere, so they can, in turn, thrive in school, their communities and the working world for years to come.

Tour Edge Exotics CBX Hybrids, Fairway Woods Earn 3rd Place, Three Top 10’s on PGA TOUR Champions

Exotics CBX is #2 Most Played Hybrid Model at Boca Raton Championship

(Boca Raton, FL) - PGA Champions Tour professionals using the new Tour Edge Exotics CBX hybrids and fairway woods earned a 3rd place finish and three Top 10 finishes at the Boca Raton Championship on the PGA TOUR Champions Sunday.

Seven new players playing Exotics CBX this week marks 19 professionals representing 87 PGA TOUR victories to have put the spin killing hybrids and fairway woods into play over the last seven events on the PGA TOUR Champions.

According to the Darrell Survey, 12 Exotics CBX hybrids and fairway woods were put into play this week in Boca Raton. With nine hybrids in play, Tour Edge was the #4 ranked manufacturer in the hybrid count and Exotics CBX ranked as the #2 most played model at the Boca Raton Championship.

“There is no doubt now that the Exotics CBX are the fastest growing metalwoods on the PGA TOUR Champions and on any other professional tour in golf,” said Tour Edge President and Master Club Designer David Glod. “We also have some exciting developments with Exotics CBX fairway woods, hybrids and Iron-Woods making their way onto the PGA TOUR and Tour. The word is spreading that if you want the distance and accuracy of a Titanium face in a hybrid or fairway wood, there is only one game in town.”

• The 3rd place finisher was a new Exotics CBX user who put in an 18 degree Exotics CBX with an Aldila Tour Green shaft. He played the Exotics CBX to perfection in the last round with five birdies and no bogeys en route to a 67 on the scorecard. The player now ranks 6th in the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup standings after earning $115,200 this week.

• A 5-time PGA TOUR winner played an Exotics CBX fairway wood for the fourth event in a row and finished T7 with the club this week. The player has scored three Top 25 finishes out of the four events he has played the c

• The current #28 ranked player on the PGA TOUR Champions played an 18- degree Exotics CBX hybrid with an Aldila Tour Blue shaft to a T10 finish.

• The low round of the event was recorded with a 64 in the 2nd round of the event by a player using a 16-degree Exotics CBX hybrid with a Fujikura ATMOS shaft. The player finished T24, giving Exotics CBX four players in the Top 25.

After a 3rd place finish to start the 2018 season in Hawaii and another 3rd place finish in Boca Raton, Exotics CBX metalwoods have earned two Top 5 finishes and four Top 10 finishes to start the 2018 season. This week the Champions Tour season moves across southern Florida to Naples for the Chubb Classic held at TwinEagles Golf Club.

The new Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrid were designed with a multi-material construction that includes the top of the line in Beta Titanium, Hyper Steel and Carbon Composite materials.

This unique combination of three different materials helps produce a penetrating ball flight that cuts through windy conditions and lowers side spin rates for greater accuracy.

They are currently the only Titanium face fairway woods and hybrids available for sale in the US market.

The Exotics CBX hybrid’s higher CG is located slightly forward in the club head through the use of a carbon fiber in the sole, which is significantly lighter than stainless steel. This helps to increase ball speed and reduce spin, which makes for less dispersion Tour Edge’s extremely thin Beta-titanium cup-face enlarges the ideal hitting area on the clubs.

It is brazed to stainless steel behind the hitting area which allows the face to flex more at impact, while the Speed Ramp sole design o provide reduced turf interaction so the club can maintain its speed through the hitting area. This has led to independent robot tests that have shown the CBX to average more than 16 yards longer in distance than several of the best selling fairway woods on the market.

Six different loft options in the Exotics CBX hybrids (16°, 17°, 18°, 19°, 20° and 22°) makes the Exotics CBX the most extensive hybrid line available with more lofts available than any other manufacturer that has hybrids in play on the professional tours.

The Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway woods, Exotics CBX hybrids and Exotics CBX Iron-woods are currently available at select authorized Tour Edge retailers. To find a Tour Edge retailer near you, call (800) 515-3343 or visit
